The commentary runs continuously and privately
Set a Gemini Mercury to work on the 12th house and the internal narration never switches off. Several conversations at once, versions of things that have not happened, whole exchanges rehearsed and improved, none of it reaching anybody.
What people meet is a fraction of the traffic. You are considerably funnier, quicker and stranger inside than the version that arrives in a room, and the discrepancy is not modesty.
Writing is where you become fluent
Spoken, you hesitate, qualify and settle for the approximate word. On paper the hesitation disappears entirely and the sentences come out precise and occasionally excellent. This is not a quirk, it is the channel where your thinking actually completes. Route the important things through it deliberately — the difficult message drafted, the idea written before it is discussed.
The messages you never sent
You compose the reply, read it, and put it away, and this has happened enough times to constitute a substantial private archive of things people were never told. The composing feels like communicating and it is not. Send a shorter and less perfect version. Nothing in your drafts folder has ever changed anybody's mind about anything.
The input has to be cut, not managed
With this much internal traffic already, incoming material accumulates rather than replacing anything: the reading, the listening, the constant supply of things to think about. The evening does not wind down because nothing was ever closed. Reduce what arrives rather than trying to relax more effectively, because relaxation is not the variable that moves here.
You pick up the layer under the conversation
Because so much of your attention runs inward and sideways rather than forward, you register the unspoken layer of an exchange: the hesitation, the topic quietly skipped, the sentence somebody nearly said and thought better of. That is a genuine and unusual perceptiveness, and it accumulates entirely unreported. Say what you noticed occasionally, even clumsily, because a person who registers everything about a room and volunteers none of it is not actually helping anybody in it, including themselves.
The things you never said to them
There is a running archive of what you have thought and not spoken to a partner: the observation, the reservation, the affection that seemed excessive to voice at the time. You know the whole of it in detail and they know almost none of it. Read one entry aloud this month, chosen at random rather than by importance. The random one is far easier to say and it demonstrates that the archive exists, which is the actual disclosure.
You are quieter than the people who know you expect
In groups you can go long stretches without contributing while running a full commentary internally, and people who have read your writing or met you individually find the difference startling. Neither version is a performance. Tell one or two of them how it works, because otherwise the silence gets read as boredom or as disapproval and it is neither.
You worked it out on your own
Whatever was confusing in your household when you were small, you assembled an explanation for privately, from fragments, without asking anybody. That habit of solitary interpretation started there and it has been running since. Check one of those early conclusions against an actual account, because a theory built at nine out of overheard remarks is almost certainly missing something.
Attention is what runs out, not the body
What depletes here is not physical energy but the capacity to attend: a day of perfectly ordinary input leaves you unable to focus on anything by evening, with no bodily tiredness to account for it. Rest that involves no incoming material is the only kind that restores it. An hour with nothing to read, watch or answer does considerably more than a long night with something playing in the background.
