Count the roles you were pulled into
Count the positions you occupy that you did not choose so much as drift towards because somebody needed them filled. Pluto in Pisces in the 10th house dissolves the edges of your public role, so your working life has a shape you did not entirely design.
Half of this is simply chronology: Pluto's passage through Pisces covers a long span of birth years and marks every one of them the same way. The 10th house is the part your own birth time supplied, and it is the half worth reading personally. It puts the porousness into your standing rather than your private life, which is why what people need from you has repeatedly become what you do for a living.
What people project onto you
Because your position is hard to define, people fill it in themselves, and they tend to fill it in with whatever they want you to be. Some of those projections have been useful and some have quietly become your job. Say what you actually do, in one plain sentence, since in the absence of one the description is written by whoever needs something.
What came before this
There was somebody in your background whose ambitions were unrealised, or whose public position collapsed, and the atmosphere around that reached you without any of the facts. It is why success has an unease attached for you that other people do not carry. Ask what actually happened, since you have been carrying an outline rather than a story.
Where the vagueness jams
You will not claim the position you already hold. Others describe you as the person who does the thing, and you demur, and the demurral has cost you both money and authority over twenty years. Say the title out loud once, without qualifying it, and observe that nobody objects, because they have been using it about you for years.
Standing without dissolving in it
A public role requires an edge you do not naturally have: what you do, what you do not, what you are and are not responsible for. Write those down and give them to the people who need them. It is the least natural act available to you and it is what turns a drift into a career.
The description never fitted the work
Whatever your role is called, the thing you actually contribute sits outside it: the situation read early, the person kept steady, the difficulty that never arrived. It is real and it appears nowhere. Write the honest version of your job in two lines and use it when people ask, since the official title has been misdirecting them for years.
You are somebody people confide in at work
Colleagues arrive with a situation, stay longer than they meant to and leave lighter, and you carry the remainder into the rest of your day without noticing the transfer. Nothing was requested of you and nothing was refused. Say plainly when you have no room, once, since you have never in your working life ended one of those conversations first.
Somebody there had ambitions that failed
Behind you there is a person whose plans for a public life came to nothing, and the atmosphere around that reached you without any of the detail attached. It is why visible success has an unease in it for you that other people do not carry. Ask what actually happened to them, from whoever still knows, since you have been navigating by a mood rather than by a story.
You have never named your own rate
Asked what you charge, you tend to ask what the budget is, and you have been letting other people set the figure for your entire working life. It feels accommodating and it has compounded into a substantial difference. Decide the number in advance of the next conversation and say it first, since whoever speaks first sets the frame and it has never been you.
The role has no closing time
Your work does not end at a boundary, it thins out, so there is no point at which you are demonstrably off duty and no signal to your body that the day is over. Fatigue arrives without a cause attached. Build an artificial ending, performed identically each day, since the natural one was never issued to you.
