Two things run together in there: your own state and everybody else's
In your 12th house, your private weather and other people's are the same system. Neptune in Libra is what fuses them, so solitude does not empty the room — you take the whole cast in with you and go on adjusting to people who are not present.
Anyone born close to you in time was handed the same longing for a perfect arrangement; that half is common property. The difference is which door it came through, and yours opens onto the 12th house, where the arrangement being balanced is one nobody else can see.
Peace imagined as nothing being unresolved
What you picture as rest is a state with no outstanding friction anywhere: nobody upset with you, nothing pending, every relationship in equilibrium. That condition has never existed for anyone for longer than an afternoon. Waiting for it means you have not rested in years, and the waiting is the mechanism rather than the circumstances.
The conversations you keep having with absent people
A large share of your inner life is spent on exchanges that have not happened: explaining yourself to somebody, working out how a discussion would go, defending a position to a person who has not raised it. It is real effort producing no result. Write the argument down once instead. Externalised, it stops running; rehearsed internally, it runs indefinitely.
They read the retreat as being about them
When you withdraw, people close to you assume something has gone wrong between you, because your presence is normally so responsive that its absence carries information. Usually it carries none. Say the sentence before you go under: that you need to be out of contact and nothing is wrong. It costs ten seconds and it prevents the whole misunderstanding.
Write down your own position, alone
Since your views reorganise in company and continue reorganising in your head afterwards, the only version you will ever get is one written in private with nobody imagined in the room. Do it before a decision rather than after. What appears will be firmer and more particular than anything that survives contact with an audience, including an imagined one.
You cannot rest while somebody is unhappy with you
An unresolved tension with anybody — a colleague, a relative, somebody you barely know — keeps your system running at low alert until it clears, and no amount of sleep compensates. Treat clearing it as a health measure rather than as a social task. One awkward message does more for how you feel than a week of trying to rest through it.
An inner life spent keeping everybody in balance
A large proportion of your private hours goes on managing relationships that are not currently happening, and none of that work exists anywhere outside you or benefits anybody. It is worth seeing plainly. What would you think about, if that stopped? The answer to that question is the part of your inner life that has never had any room.
You disappear rather than say you are not coming
Declining an invitation directly is harder for you than simply going quiet, so you withdraw and let people draw their own conclusions, which are invariably worse than the truth. Say no in one sentence with no reason attached to it. The relief of having declined cleanly is out of all proportion to the awkwardness of the sentence, and it is available every single time.
You keep the peace in a household inside your head
The arbitration you have done in your family did not stop when you left; it continues internally, with you managing positions between people who are elsewhere and possibly no longer in dispute. Notice that you are the only one still in that room. Putting it down is permitted and nobody will notice you have.
You rehearse the difficult conversation for a week
Before anything contested at work you run the exchange repeatedly in your head, adjusting for every possible reaction, and the preparation consumes several days while improving the outcome hardly at all. Prepare for twenty minutes, write three sentences down, and go in with those. The rehearsal has never once predicted what the other person actually said, and no version of it will.
