Nothing about your career has been a straight line
Nothing about the shape of your working life is orderly. Mars in Sagittarius in the 10th house aims your force at public standing and then keeps changing where it is aimed, so the record consists of large moves in several directions, each of them genuinely believed in at the time.
The sign is why the moves are big and the house is why they are visible. That gives you a reputation for conviction and a curriculum vitae that requires explanation, and the people assessing you will divide sharply into those who find it impressive and those who find it unserious.
People follow somebody who believes it
Your authority comes from conviction rather than from position, which is why teams move for you before you have any formal claim on them. It is a genuine capability and it depends entirely on you actually believing what you are saying. In a role you privately think is pointless, the same person cannot persuade anybody of anything.
The move that looked reckless and was not
At least one of your changes of direction was read by everybody around you as a mistake and turned out to be the making of you. You are right to trust the instinct. What it cannot do is tell you which ones are which in advance, so keep a reserve sized to a bad year and the same nerve becomes affordable.
Promised in public, delivered in private
You announce direction with real force and the follow-through happens quietly or not at all, which means your reputation is currently built on statements rather than on completions. Land one thing visibly per year, dated and specific. The explorer with a record of returns gets funded indefinitely; the one with only departures gets remembered fondly.
Work that has to be defensible out loud
You cannot sustain a role you would be embarrassed to describe honestly at a dinner, whatever it pays, and attempts to do so have ended the same way each time. That is a genuine constraint and it is worth designing around rather than testing again. Ask whether you could say what you do without qualifying it.
One landing a year, made visible
Your professional problem has never been ambition or capability, it is that the evidence trails the announcements by some distance. Choose one thing each year, finish it completely, and make the finish as public as the start was. Two of those in a row changes what people expect from you permanently, and nothing else will.
The direction has to be yours to keep working
You have taken roles that made sense to other people and watched your own engine go quiet inside them, more than once. That is not a failure of maturity. Build the working life around something you would defend in an argument, even at a cost, because the alternative version does not produce results either.
Income that arrives in uneven years
Your earnings come in bursts attached to whatever you are currently pursuing, which means judging any single year tells you almost nothing. Move to a three-year view and hold back from the good years deliberately, at a fixed percentage set in advance. The lean stretch always arrives and never at the point you predicted.
Known widely, and by a lot of people who moved on
Each change of direction left behind a set of people who thought well of you and have since lost contact, and the accumulated total is a considerable network that is entirely dormant. Reach out to three of them a year with nothing attached. It is the cheapest professional act available to you and you have never done it.
Between campaigns, nothing at all
You maintain yourself well while there is a goal and stop completely in the gaps, and the gaps have been getting longer. The fix is not consistency, which you have never managed, but a smaller permanent baseline that survives the flat periods. Set it low enough that abandoning it would be embarrassing.
