Growth by subtraction, which is still growth
Abundance arrives through your 6th house wearing Virgo, and here the sign and the territory are the same thing: work, routine, health and usefulness are simultaneously your instrument and your ground. A day without a task in it unsettles you. What this needs is a definition of enough that applies to a working week.
The older texts count Jupiter uncomfortable in Virgo, on the argument that a planet of enlargement fits badly in a sign that improves things by trimming them. How much weight that deserves is disputed; this site takes it as a statement about method. Your enlargement happens through refinement and fit, and across a lifetime it produces as much as anybody else's expansion does.
The workload expands without anybody deciding
Each new task is reasonable, the total is not, and the increase happened so gradually that there was never a point at which it could be objected to. That is the standing hazard here. Count the hours for one week honestly, because the argument for changing anything requires a number and you have never produced one.
Standards applied to your own body
You maintain yourself the way you maintain everything else: the routine, the diet, the corrections. Most of it works and some of it is criticism wearing the clothes of care. Ask whether a particular regime is making you stronger or merely making you acceptable, since only one of those is worth the effort involved.
Doing less, better, is the actual skill
Your instinct is to do everything to the same standard, which means the standard falls in the weeks when there is too much. The alternative is choosing. Decide each Monday which two things get your full attention, and let the rest be adequate on purpose, because deliberate adequacy is a skill and exhaustion is not.
Nobody sees what you prevented
Your contribution is largely composed of problems that never happened, and there is no way for anybody to observe that. It is why you are underpaid and unbothered by turns. Narrate it once a quarter in specific terms, since this is the one form of value that genuinely does not exist until somebody describes it.
The hours you never invoiced
A substantial number of hours in your working life have simply been given away: the extra afternoon, the weekend, the quiet repair of somebody else's work before anybody saw it. Each one was small and the total across a decade is close to a year. Record the additional hours for one month and put the figure in front of whoever decides, because nobody is going to discover it on your behalf.
Rest has to be booked like anything else
You cannot rest opportunistically: an unstructured afternoon fills with jobs within about twenty minutes, so unplanned recovery never actually takes place at all. Rest in this position has to be written down like any other commitment. Put it in the diary with a start and a finish, and treat it as an appointment with somebody who would be annoyed to be stood up.
Ask for the standard, not the volume
Recognition here tends to arrive as more work rather than as better work, and you have accepted that exchange several times. It is not a promotion. Nobody has ever been promoted for the length of their list. Negotiate for the harder task rather than the larger pile, since your advancement depends on difficulty being visible and quantity never has been.
Being useful is not the same as being valued
You have organised a life around being needed, and it works: you are needed everywhere, constantly and reliably. What is missing is any setting in which you are wanted for something else. Spend time with one person who never asks you for anything, since that is the only place the difference becomes visible.
Depended on rather than included
In any group you take the practical role, which secures your place and quietly excuses you from the social half of belonging to anything. It is a comfortable arrangement and it is not the same thing as friendship. Turn up once to something where there is nothing at all to organise, and stay well past the point at which you would ordinarily start clearing up.
