You do not travel to look, you travel to be changed
Put a Scorpio Venus in the house of Philosophy and the wider world becomes something you go into rather than something you observe. A trip that leaves you exactly as you were is a wasted one, and comfortable tourism holds no interest at all.
The same applies to what you believe. You do not hold opinions about how to live; you hold convictions, arrived at through something that actually happened to you, and they are not available for casual debate over dinner.
The hidden history is the part you want
In any place you are drawn to what is not on the itinerary: what happened here, who was displaced, what the pleasant square was built over. That instinct produces a far more accurate understanding of somewhere than the standard version. Do let one afternoon be simply enjoyable, since not every street requires excavation.
You go to the bottom of a subject or leave it
A topic either takes hold completely, in which case you will read the primary sources and pursue it for years, or it does not register at all. There is no casual interest here. Accept the pattern rather than fighting it, and choose your subjects carefully, since each one will take considerably more of you than you plan for.
Beliefs you do not put up for discussion
What you have concluded about the important things was paid for and is not open to a cheerful argument with somebody who has thought about it for ten minutes. That firmness is earned. It does mean you rarely change your mind in public, so let one person genuinely challenge you occasionally, since a conviction never tested is only a habit.
A place that took something out of you
There is usually a country, a period abroad or a journey that marked you permanently, and you may not talk about it much. It is one of the more important things that has happened to you. Go back at some point, or write it down, since an experience of that size deserves more than being carried privately for decades.
Attracted to somebody who has lived through something
What draws you is not exoticism but depth of experience: a person who has been through something and come out with a point of view. That is a sound instinct and it can shade into being drawn to damage. Ask whether they have recovered or merely survived, since those look identical at the beginning and diverge completely.
You went further than they did
You have probably moved further from your family's assumptions than anybody else in it, in geography or in outlook, and the distance was necessary rather than accidental. That gap does not need closing. It does benefit from one honest conversation with the relative most likely to understand, since silence about it is read as rejection.
The journey costs more than you budget for
Because you go into things fully, travel and study both take a real physical toll and you plan for neither. The intensity is the point and the recovery is unaccounted for. Build a genuinely empty week after anything significant, since the pattern of total immersion followed by a hard collapse is entirely predictable and entirely preventable.
A question you will be working on for decades
What you want is not variety but one thing understood completely, and you are capable of giving thirty years to a single question. Choose it deliberately rather than being captured by whatever arrived first. The capacity is rare; the aiming is the part that decides whether it produces something or simply consumes you.
One apprentice at a time, taught properly
Where you pass anything on it goes to a very small number of people and it goes in depth, over years rather than terms. Addressing a hall leaves you cold; taking one person the whole way through something is where you are exceptional. Look for the arrangement that allows it, whether that is supervision, mentoring or a long apprenticeship, since what you know does not transfer at all in the shallow formats.
