Live transmission is the first thing people meet
You are usually three thoughts into something before the room has settled, and the manner people meet is that speed rather than any fixed personality. Uranus moved through Gemini across the mid-1940s and again from the mid-2020s, so the mental register is shared; the first house makes it your visible surface.
That means what greets other people is a process, not a portrait. You think out loud, revise mid-sentence, and arrive at the conclusion in front of them. It reads as brilliance to some and as unfinished to others, and both are responding to the same fact: the working is on the outside where the finished answer usually goes.
Scattered is the usual misreading
The verdict you collect most often is that you are all over the place, which is a description of the surface rather than of what is happening. Four subjects in ten minutes looks like distraction and is more often triangulation. It is worth naming the through-line yourself occasionally, since nobody will infer it from watching you move.
The turn happens without a signal
Your presentation can change register in an instant: the voice, the vocabulary, the level of formality, sometimes the apparent opinion. Nothing announced it, because the switch happened inside a sentence. People who like you find this exhilarating and people who need to plan around you find it impossible, and neither reaction is unreasonable.
You can be understood by almost anyone
Because you carry several registers, you can put the same idea into whichever language the person in front of you already speaks. That is a genuinely uncommon skill and it makes you the default translator in mixed rooms. The cost is being cast as the explainer rather than the one with the idea, which is worth correcting deliberately.
A career made of connections nobody had made
What builds here is a body of links rather than a body of work: the two fields you joined, the person you introduced to the other person, the framing that made an argument make sense. It is real output and it is almost invisible on paper, since a connection stops looking like an invention the moment it becomes obvious. Take one of those junctions further than an introduction and see it through, because that is the difference between a connector and an author.
The through-line is the switchboard, not the subject
Looking back, the constant is not any field you worked in but the act of connecting one thing to another. That is a coherent life even though it will never look tidy on a form. Deciding to describe yourself by the function rather than by the subject matter resolves most of the anxiety about looking unfocused.
Everyone knows you, few know much
You collect acquaintances at a rate that surprises people, because a first conversation with you is genuinely enjoyable. What arrives less often is the second layer, partly because you move on quickly and partly because breadth is more comfortable than depth. Choosing three people and going back to them repeatedly is worth doing on purpose, since it does not happen by drift.
The charge is legible on the outside
Whatever your mind is doing shows up in the body before you have registered it: hands that will not settle, a talking speed that climbs, a jaw held without your knowledge. Other people can see all of it. That makes an outside reading more reliable than your own here, so a friend who will tell you plainly that you have been running fast for a fortnight is worth more than any private monitoring you attempt.
Hired for how you frame it
Your marketable skill is not what you know but how fast you can make something make sense to someone else. That points at work with a communication edge: analysis, teaching, design, anything where the framing is the product. Say the speed out loud in an interview rather than hoping it shows, because on paper it looks like a lack of specialism.
You need to be talked with, not talked at
Interest survives here only as long as the conversation does, and it fades quietly once exchanges have turned into logistics. That makes you look fickle when the requirement is in fact narrow and entirely consistent. Protecting one standing arrangement that carries no admin at all — a walk, a late call, a meal with nothing to decide — holds the thing together without either of you having to name the drift first.
