The sign standing in its own country
Put a Sagittarius Sun in the house of Philosophy and the house and the sign want exactly the same thing. Meaning, distance and belief are not one part of your life; they are the frame the rest is arranged inside. You need a life that is visibly about something.
Nothing here is diluted, which makes the direction of the search more important than its intensity. A person with this configuration pointed at something worthwhile is formidable, and pointed at nothing in particular is restless for decades.
Conviction that other people follow
When you believe something you say it with a warmth that moves people, and they act on it. That is real influence and it is not calibrated to how much you actually know. Hold each new certainty at half volume for a season before advocating it, because your enthusiasm is more persuasive than your evidence and the two are easily confused.
Going is how you find out
Reading about a place, a field or a way of life does very little for you compared with an hour of being in it. That is not impatience; it is how your understanding actually forms. Build your learning around going: the visit, the immersion, the year somewhere else, and treat the preparation as secondary rather than as the main work.
Certainty is the occupational hazard
The same wholeheartedness that makes you a good advocate makes you a poor examiner of your own position, especially once it has been publicly argued. Keep one deliberate practice against it: once a year, seek out the best version of the opposing case and sit with it properly. Most of your views will survive and the exercise keeps them honest.
Bring something back
A life of going produces a great deal that stays with you and never reaches anybody else. Teaching, writing, taking somebody with you next time: this is where the wandering becomes worth something to more than one person. Choose one thing you know by having lived it and hand it on this year.
The subject outgrew the job description
What you know tends to exceed what you are employed to do with it, and the surplus goes into evenings, side projects and conversations nobody is paying for. That is not waste and it is not a career either. Once, take the surplus seriously enough to give it a form with your name on it: a course, a book, a series, something that exists whether or not an employer wanted it.
One direction, held for a decade
Range you have; what changes everything here is aim. Ten years pointed at one question produces something that ten years of sampling cannot. Choose the question deliberately rather than waiting until you feel certain about it, and then review it once, in the tenth year, instead of reopening the whole matter every spring.
People who came along
A number of the people in your life are there because you invited them into something and they came: the trip, the course, the move. Those bonds are real and they carry an obligation, since your enthusiasm brought them there. Check in on the ones whose lives changed because of a plan of yours.
Somebody who wants to know too
What holds you is shared curiosity rather than shared circumstances, and a partner who has stopped wanting to find things out will lose you slowly. Keep something in front of both of you: a subject, a country, a plan neither of you has done. It matters more here than compatibility of temperament.
The fund for going
Your money is best organised around a single explicit purpose, which for you is the ability to go and to learn. Name the account and feed it automatically. Money with a stated purpose survives in your hands; money in general does not, because a general balance is always available for whatever turns out to be interesting on a Thursday.
