Choose arenas where the intensity is welcome. Serious competition with people who also care is a much better home for this than a casual evening you accidentally ruin.
Delight that comes with full attention
When you are taken with someone — a partner, a child, a student — the focus is total, and being on the receiving end is powerful and occasionally a lot. Your interest is not a light thing to carry.
Ask what they actually want from you. Your attention is a genuine gift and it works far better when it has been sized to the person rather than to your feeling.
Falling all the way in
Attraction for you goes deep quickly and does not come with a shallow setting. What starts as interest becomes a preoccupation, and the early stretch of a relationship can take over your whole life for a season.
Slow the external commitments even when the internal ones have already been made. Keep the job, the friendships and the routine running through the first months, because that scaffolding is what has saved you before.
Creative work with something at stake
Fields that reward depth and nerve suit you: work that goes to difficult places, performance with real risk in it, anything where a safe version would be worthless. Decorative or purely pleasant briefs will not hold you.
Take the project that frightens you slightly. Your record shows that the intimidating commission is consistently the one that produced your best work and your next opportunity.
