Comfort was never the test of a belief
Holding a comfortable view comes easily to you, and comfort has never been the test of a belief. With the North Node in Scorpio in the 9th house, meaning is supposed to disturb you: the subject that changes your mind, the journey that unsettles. You need one belief that cost you something.
The views you hold are largely the ones that were available and pleasant to hold. None of them has ever asked you to give anything up.
A view that costs something feels like a bad bargain
When a belief starts to demand a change in how you live, the reasonable move is to hold it more loosely, and you have done that repeatedly without noticing. Watch for the loosening. Take one conviction all the way into its practical consequences this year and pay whatever it turns out to cost you.
Study the thing that would unsettle you
Start with the subject you have been avoiding rather than the one you enjoy: the history that implicates your own side, the field that would rearrange your assumptions, the account you suspect is true and would rather not read. Go into one of them properly for three months and let it do whatever it does to your existing views.
Teachers who ask something of you
You gravitate to sources that confirm and reassure, which is comfortable and produces very little movement. Find one teacher, writer or group that demands something of you — a change of practice, a difficult honesty, a standard you do not currently meet. Being asked for something rather than offered something is what turns study into transformation here.
Convictions with something staked on them
What accumulates is a small number of beliefs you have actually paid for: positions that cost you a friendship, a job, a comfortable assumption. They are worth considerably more than a library of agreeable opinions, and they are the only ones that hold their shape when a genuinely difficult year arrives to test them.
Ideas that rearranged you
Count the times a book, a teacher or an argument actually changed how you live rather than what you are able to discuss. For most people that number is very small, and for you it may be nought. The count, rather than how much you have read, is the measure this arena uses. Add one before the year is out.
Go where the work would change you
Professionally you have chosen the familiar field, the known process, the environment where your competence transfers. Take one role or project that would require becoming somebody different — a new discipline, a different culture, a level above your evidence. Transformation is the currency here and comfort is what has been spending it.
Go somewhere that does not accommodate you
Your travel and your wider circle stay within reach of the familiar: places that work like home, people who broadly agree, arrangements that are comfortable. Take one trip or join one group where none of that applies. Being genuinely out of your depth for a fortnight does more than a decade of pleasant exposure.
Believe something together that costs you
With a partner your shared values have been the easy ones, agreed early and never tested. Pick something you both claim to believe and act on it at real expense this year — money, time, a decision that inconveniences you both. A shared conviction that has cost something binds two people permanently.
Face the thing you have decided not to know
There is usually one area of your own health you have chosen to leave uninvestigated, on the reasonable grounds that you feel fine and looking would be unsettling. That decision is not neutral. Find out this year, and treat the discomfort of the enquiry as the price of everything downstream of it.
