Nobody is home in there
Nothing in your inner life is exactly missing; it is simply that nobody is home in there. With the North Node in Leo in the 12th house, the growth is a private self that has some warmth toward itself. You need one hour where you are your own audience.
Being unwitnessed has never bothered you, which sounds like strength and has left the interior unfurnished. Somebody has to be interested in what happens in there.
Enjoying your own company feels self-absorbed
There is an internal rule against taking yourself seriously in private: reflection is acceptable if it is useful, self-regard is not acceptable at all. Break it deliberately. Spend an hour appreciating something you did, alone, without converting it into a lesson. The embarrassment is real and it passes within about three repetitions.
Make something nobody will ever see
Start with private creation: write, draw, play, build something with no audience and no purpose, and keep it. Then read back something you made a year ago and let yourself be pleased with it. Both exercises install the same thing — an internal witness who is on your side, and that witness is what has been missing.
You are allowed to matter to yourself
Every relationship you have runs on what you contribute, and there is nobody in the arrangement whose job is to care about you specifically — including you. Appoint yourself. It sounds absurd and it is the mechanism: an hour a week whose only agenda is that you are the one it is for.
Warmth that does not need an audience
What accumulates is a bearable inner room: a place you can go where the commentary is not entirely functional, where something you did is remembered fondly, where the tone is warm. It changes how much solitude you can take, and therefore how much you need from other people. Most of the pressure comes off.
Rest is easier when you like yourself
Recovery here is blocked less by the schedule than by the internal tone: it is difficult to rest inside a head that treats you as a resource. Notice the register of your own thinking during a quiet hour. Softening it does more for sleep and appetite than any change to what you actually do.
The audience of one
The long project here is becoming a person whose life matters to them from the inside, in the absence of any witness. That is not vanity; it is what makes solitude survivable and the later chapters habitable. Keep some private record of what you have done and enjoyed. You are the reader it is for.
Say what you did without the deflection
When somebody asks how something went, you give the modest version out of habit even when you are pleased. Try the accurate one: it went well, I am glad with how it turned out. It sounds enormous inside your head and lands as ordinary. Practising it in private first makes the public version possible.
Being wanted requires being findable
Romantically you are easy to be with and hard to locate, because so little of what you actually feel makes it to the surface. The problem is upstream: much of it has not been admitted privately either. Notice what you want before you consider whether to say it. The saying gets easier once the noticing is honest.
The work you do in private counts
A great deal of your output happens where nobody can see it, and you have kept no account of it even for yourself. That is why long stretches feel as though nothing happened. Keep a private record — not for a review, for you. It is the only way this arena produces a sense of having done anything.
