Feelings about work run on whether it is for something
A Sagittarius Moon in the 10th house cannot be sustained by a good position alone. What holds you is a professional life that is going somewhere and stands for something, and a well-paid role with no point to it produces a restlessness that promotions do not touch.
That makes you unusually willing to take a risk with your own standing. You will leave a secure position for a cause, a country or a better question, and the record of that is a career with more turns in it than most.
You are believed because you believe it
Where a case has to be made publicly, your conviction does the work: audiences, clients and boards go along with things because you visibly mean them. That is a genuine professional asset and it carries a risk, since the same warmth carries an argument that has not been fully checked just as effectively.
The ladder itself does not interest you
Rank, seniority and the ordinary sequence of promotions matter to you considerably less than what the work involves, which means you will decline a step upwards that narrows what you can do. That is a defensible choice and it is worth making it explicitly, since from outside it reads as a lack of ambition.
You leave before the position matures
Professional standing takes longer to build than your patience generally allows, so you depart at the point where the groundwork is finished and the returns have not started. The reasons are always good. Notice that they arrive on a schedule, and ask once what staying another three years would actually have produced.
Stay through one full cycle
Choose a role or a field and remain until the whole arc has happened: the difficult middle, the results arriving, the standing accruing. That is the single experience this arrangement has usually not had, and it produces something no amount of movement supplies, which is authority rather than merely reputation. Decide the length in advance and tell somebody, since the reasons for leaving will arrive on schedule and they will be persuasive.
Work with a horizon in it
Teaching, publishing, international roles, advocacy, anything where the job keeps expanding what you know: these hold you. Fixed, local, repetitive positions lose you within two years whatever the terms. Build the career around scope rather than security, since the security you gain from a narrow role is not the kind that helps you.
A pointless job shows up in the body
Work you do not believe in produces heaviness, disturbed sleep and a persistent urge to be elsewhere, and none of it responds to rest or to a better salary. That is worth reading as information rather than as ingratitude. The remedy is a change in what you are doing rather than in how you are coping with it.
Your choices were hard to explain at home
Turning down the sensible option, moving abroad, or taking a route nobody in the household recognised produced genuine bafflement and some disappointment that has never quite been discussed. Give the reasoning once, briefly, and let it stand. Repeating it has never converted anybody and it costs you every family occasion. Asking about their working lives, in detail and with interest, closes more of that gap than any further account of your own.
A profession full of people who have moved around
Your working relationships tend to be with others who have also gone somewhere: former colleagues in other countries, people met at a conference, a network with no geographical centre. It is genuinely useful and thin locally. Keep two allies in the place where you actually work, since that is where things get decided.
A partner has to accept the direction changing
A relationship here has to survive the possibility of the whole arrangement relocating: a post abroad, a change of field, an opportunity that arrives with three months' notice. What you need is somebody who finds that interesting rather than alarming, which is a real requirement and not a common one. Establish it early by asking what they would do if it happened, and take the answer seriously.
