The household you grew up in did not quite fit
An Aquarius Moon in the 4th house tends to have felt slightly foreign at home from early on: present, functioning, and not entirely of the place. What settles you now is a household arranged your own way, with room in it, and nothing about it borrowed from a template.
So the home you build is likely to be unconventional in some structural way: who lives there, how it is organised, what counts as family. That is not a compromise here but the actual requirement, and arrangements that look normal from outside tend to leave you restless indoors.
Family gets chosen rather than inherited
The people who function as your household may not be related to you at all: friends of twenty years, an assembled group, a network that behaves like kin. Those bonds are as load-bearing as any blood relation and considerably more deliberate. Treat them with the formality you would give family, since nothing else is going to confer it.
You keep a step back even indoors
At home the observation continues: you register what is going on in the household accurately and remain slightly outside it, which is useful in a crisis and puzzling to the people you live with. Nothing about the affection is missing. What is missing is the appearance of being caught up in it, and that has to be said rather than shown.
Space gets defended past what the household can absorb
The room, the hours, the requirement not to be asked things: these are genuine needs and they can become a wall the household learns not to knock on. Then you are alone in the middle of your own home. Say when you are available rather than only when you are not, since only one of those has been communicated so far.
Be findable indoors at a set hour
Pick a regular time when you are unambiguously present and reachable at home, and treat it as fixed. The people you live with will use it, which is the point. Given no schedule they learn to approach cautiously or not at all, and the resulting quiet is not the solitude you wanted but the isolation you did not.
The relative who did it differently
What you built instead of the expected household, who lives in it and how it is organised, is unlikely ever to be fully understood at home, and the bafflement tends to be permanent in both directions. Neither side is going to be talked round. Give the explanation once, briefly, and then stop supplying it, because the effort to be understood costs considerably more here than being misunderstood does.
Living together has to leave the doors on
You need a shared home that does not become a merged life: your own room, your own hours, an arrangement that would look odd to somebody else and works for you both. A partner expecting the standard domestic script will experience your requirements as withdrawal. State them early as terms rather than as apologies.
Solitude at home is the actual restorative
Hours alone in your own space do more for you than sleep, company or any deliberate relaxation, and a household that never provides them shows up as a low, persistent depletion. This is a structural requirement rather than a preference. Build it into how the home is arranged rather than hoping it occurs between other things.
Deciding what a family is
You were probably given a definition that did not fit and have spent years assembling your own: who counts, what is owed, what a household is for. That is genuine work and it usually happens without ever being stated. Write down the answer you have arrived at, since much of it is currently being lived rather than known.
The house works better as a meeting place
Your home tends to become a hub for an assortment of people rather than a private retreat, and it suits you: company at a comfortable distance, conversation without obligation. Keep one part of it genuinely closed, because a household that is entirely social gives you no version of home that is only yours.
