You do not read around a subject, you qualify in it: the course completed, the credential obtained, the standard somebody else would recognise. Informal knowledge feels insufficient to you regardless of how good it is. That thoroughness pays, and it is worth checking that the qualification is being used rather than merely held.
The journey needs a reason attached
Journeys happen for a reason: the work, the course, the family obligation, the thing that had to be seen. Going somewhere for no purpose sits oddly with you and you have rarely done it. Take one trip with no justification available, since the experience of unstructured time somewhere unfamiliar is the only part of this house you have never used.
Intolerance for the unjustified
Claims made without support irritate you visibly, whether they are religious, political or merely enthusiastic, and you will say so in rooms where it is unwelcome. Meaning arrived at slowly and late

People come to you to learn how something is properly done, and the instruction happens informally, unpaid and inside whatever role you currently hold. It is a substantial part of what you are worth to any organisation. Get it written into the job, since a training responsibility that exists only by custom disappears the moment you move.
