1. Introduction
Welcome to Meowgood (the website at https://meowgood.com, hereinafter "the Site", "we", "us", or "our"). Meowgood is a Web App platform offering a curated collection of in-browser mini-applications including PDF tools, JSON formatters, online games, and more.
Some apps on the Site (currently "Cat Almanac" and "Meow Stars") are also offered as native mobile applications on Google Play and the Apple App Store (hereinafter "the App"). This Privacy Policy applies to both the Site and the App: ads on the Site are served by Google AdSense, while ads in the App are served by Google AdMob (see Section 4.5).
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you visit and use the Site and the App, as well as your rights regarding your personal data. Please read this policy carefully before using the Site or the App. By continuing to use the Site or the App, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We operate the Site under a "minimum collection" principle. The information we collect falls into the following categories:
2.1 Information You Provide Voluntarily
The Site's core functions (browsing apps, using utilities) do not require account registration or login. Should we introduce account registration, subscriptions, or contact forms in the future, we will clearly disclose what is collected on the relevant pages and obtain your separate consent.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you browse the Site, our servers and third-party analytics tools may automatically collect the following technical information:
- Device and browser information: browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, language preferences
- Browsing behavior: pages you visit, time spent, links you click, referring URL
- Location information: approximate geographic location inferred from IP address (country or region level, no precise positioning)
- Device identifiers: anonymous identifiers generated via Cookies or similar technologies to distinguish browsing sessions
- Mobile app advertising identifier: when you use the App, Google AdMob may read your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA) and your ad-interaction data to serve ads, cap frequency, and measure performance (see Section 4.5). You can reset or limit this identifier in your device settings
2.3 Locally Stored Preferences and Content
To provide basic functionality, the Site and the App store the following data in your device's local storage (localStorage). This data is never uploaded to our servers, and we have no way to read it:
- Recently used apps: the list of apps shown in the "Recently Used" section. You can disable recording or clear existing history in the Preferences page
- Cookie consent settings: your choices for analytics and advertising Cookies
- Visual style and language preferences: your selected theme and locale
- Content you enter in an app: some apps need your input in order to compute a result, and both the input and the result stay on your device. For example, "Meow Stars" needs your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth in order to cast a birth chart, and keeps the resulting chart together with the label you give it in local storage so you do not have to enter it again. The place-name and time-zone lookup tables ship with the app as static files; lookups run on your device and are never sent to any server
You can remove individual entries at any time using the delete function inside the app, or clear everything at once by clearing site data (web) or uninstalling the app (mobile). Because we never hold this data, no copy remains with us after you clear it.
3. How We Use This Information
The information we collect is used for the following purposes:
- Operating and maintaining the Site: loading pages, displaying "Recently Used", remembering your preferences
- Improving user experience: using tools like Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site (popular apps, bounce rate, time on page) to improve page design and app recommendations
- Displaying ads: using Google AdSense on the Site and Google AdMob in the App (see Section 4.5) to display ads. On the Site, when you do not consent to advertising Cookies, ads may still display but in a non-personalized form (per Google Consent Mode v2)
- Security and abuse prevention: detecting unusual access patterns and preventing misuse or attacks
- Legal compliance: retaining and providing necessary information as required by law
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the Site. These services collect data under their own privacy policies:
4.1 Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to analyze site traffic and usage patterns. GA4 collects anonymized usage statistics via Cookies and similar technologies (such as pages visited, time spent, approximate geographic location). By default GA4 is not loaded and does not track; it only loads and starts recording after you turn on "Analytics" in the Preferences page. You can turn it off and stop tracking on the same page at any time.
For details, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
4.2 Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display ads on designated slots to sustain the Site's operations. AdSense and its partners may use Cookies and similar technologies to deliver personalized ads. Per Google Consent Mode v2:
- When you consent to "advertising Cookies", ads will be personalized based on your interests
- When you do not consent to "advertising Cookies", ads will still display but only in a non-personalized form (based on page content and approximate geographic location, without relying on personal tracking)
You can manage account-level personalized ad preferences at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party advertising Cookies at DAA WebChoices.
4.3 Google Tag Manager (GTM)
The Site uses GTM to centrally manage tracking and advertising scripts. GTM itself is a tag management container and does not collect personal data; actual data collection is performed by the child tools it loads (GA4, AdSense), each governed by their own consent settings.
4.4 Content Delivery and Fonts
The Site uses Google Fonts to deliver web typography. When you browse, your browser will request fonts from Google's font servers. Google may obtain your IP address as part of this process.
4.5 Google AdMob (Mobile App Ads)
When you use the App (Meowgood apps offered as native mobile applications, such as "Cat Almanac"), we use Google AdMob to display ads (such as banner and interstitial formats) to sustain operations. AdMob is Google's mobile advertising service and is separate from the AdSense used on the Site, with its own independent consent mechanism; the two are not shared.
- Data collected and used: to serve ads, cap display frequency, and measure performance, AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA), approximate geographic location (country or region level), device information, and your ad-interaction records
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): in these regions, the App requests your consent for personalized ads at launch via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), and only requests ads after consent is obtained; you can change or withdraw consent anytime via "Privacy options" within the App
- Other regions and your controls: in other regions, ads may be requested by default. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings to reduce ad personalization (Android: Settings → Google → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking / Apple Advertising)
- Minors and ad content: the App is not designed for children under 13; the ad content served is governed by AdMob's ad policies
For how AdMob processes data, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob policies.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Site uses Cookies along with local storage technologies such as localStorage for functionality, analytics, and advertising. We organize them into three tiers; the latter two are off by default and are not loaded automatically:
- Necessary Cookies: required for basic site functionality (such as locale switching, page caching); cannot be disabled
- Analytics Cookies: GA4 collects anonymized usage statistics; you may opt in or out
- Advertising Cookies: used by AdSense for personalized ads; you may opt in or out. When opted out, ads still display but in non-personalized form
You may click the "Cookie Settings" link in the page footer anytime to enter the Preferences page and adjust the "Analytics" and "Advertising" toggles. A complete list of Cookies used is available in our Cookie Policy.
6. Data Retention and Storage Location
The Site is a fully static web application and the App is a packaged version of it. Neither has a backend server or database of ours; both are delivered through third-party cloud services (Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps, Google):
- Static site files: hosted on Azure Static Web Apps and downloaded to your browser at the time of viewing; the App bundles the same files at install time and works offline
- Data collected by Google services: retained per Google's individual service policies. Google Analytics 4 has a default retention period of 14 months
- Local data on your device: everything listed in Section 2.3 — including the birth details you enter in an app and the charts cast from them — is stored on your device. You control the retention period and can clear it all at once by clearing site data or uninstalling the app. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following situations:
- Third-party service providers: the Google services listed in Section 4 above, each handling data under their own privacy policies
- Legal requirements: when required by regulatory authorities by law, or when necessary to protect the Site and its users
- Business transfer: in the event of merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, relevant data may transfer along. We will notify you prominently in such case
The local device data listed in Section 2.3 — including the birth details you enter in an app and the charts cast from them — falls under none of the above. It never leaves your device, so there is nothing for us to share, disclose, or transfer.
8. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including EU GDPR, Taiwan Personal Data Protection Act, California CCPA, etc.), you may have the following rights:
- Right of access: to inquire whether we hold your personal data and what it contains
- Right to rectification: to request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Right to erasure: to request deletion of your personal data (within legally permitted scope)
- Right to restrict processing: to refuse or withdraw previous consent to data processing (such as withdrawing Cookie consent)
- Right to data portability: to obtain a structured, commonly used copy of your personal data
Because neither the Site nor the App has a registration mechanism or a server of ours, we hold no personally identifiable information about you. The content data listed in Section 2.3 (including date, time, and place of birth) is personal data, but it exists only on your device — you can exercise every right above yourself, directly in the app, by viewing, editing, or deleting it. You do not need to ask us, and we could not look it up or delete it on your behalf. The remaining data (advertising identifiers, analytics) is held by third-party services such as Google, and those rights are exercised via the corresponding service settings. For any question, contact us via "Contact Us" below; we will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is not designed to specifically target children under 13 (or the minimum digital consent age set by local law) and does not actively collect children's personal data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data without your consent, please contact us via the channels below. We will promptly remove the relevant data.
10. International Data Transfers
Because the cloud and analytics services we use are provided by international vendors (Microsoft, Google), your browsing data may be transferred to regions outside of Taiwan (including the United States, the European Union, etc.) for processing and storage. These service providers have implemented safeguards compliant with international standards such as GDPR (Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, etc.).
11. Policy Changes
We may update this policy from time to time due to legal requirements, business adjustments, or service changes. For significant updates, we will post a notice on the Site's homepage or this page, and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We recommend you periodically revisit this page to stay informed. By continuing to use the Site after updates, you accept the updated version.
