Venus in Scorpio in the 5th House (House of Pleasure)

Scorpio says how Venus shows up; the 5th House says it happens in romance, creativity, play and children. Put the two together and you have the placement as it sits on a chart.

Falling for somebody is not a light event

This Venus reads Scorpio and lives in the 5th house, which means romance arrives at full intensity or not at all. There is no phase of mild interest for you. Somebody registers, and within a very short time they occupy considerably more of your attention than you would like anybody to know.

So the casual version of this house is unavailable to you. Flirtation, playing the field, light enjoyment: you can perform these and none of them are what is actually happening, which is why your romantic history has fewer entries and far more weight than most people's.

Total attention, which is a great deal to receive

When you are interested in somebody they get an intensity of focus that most people have never experienced: everything remembered, everything noticed, nothing about them treated as unimportant. It is intoxicating and it is a lot. Give it in stages, since arriving at full strength has frightened off people who would have wanted it eventually.

The material most people leave well alone

Your creative work is drawn to the difficult material: what people conceal, what is not supposed to be said, the uncomfortable truth in an otherwise pleasant scene. That is where your power as a maker is. Do not soften it for an audience, since the softened version has none of what made it worth making.

Jealousy that you would rather not admit to

It arrives, it is strong, and you will not mention it, so it operates as watchfulness and a slow accumulation of evidence instead. That is worse than saying it. One direct question, asked once, resolves in a minute what surveillance never resolves at all, and it costs you only the admission that you are capable of the feeling.

With children, protective past all reason

Around children you are watchful, deeply loyal and entirely uninterested in whether your protectiveness is proportionate. Children feel absolutely safe with you. What they also need is room to fail without your intervening, so hold back deliberately sometimes, since the shield you provide is not one they can grow inside indefinitely.

Intensity is not the same as compatibility

You read depth of feeling as evidence that something is right, and the strongest feelings you have had were not always about people who were good for you. Test it separately. Ask, after three months, whether this person is kind, reliable and glad to see you, since the intensity has never once answered any of those questions.

You will spend everything on one thing

Your discretionary money goes deep rather than wide: one obsession funded properly, everything else declined. It is an efficient way to spend and it leaves nothing for anything else. Keep a small amount for ordinary pleasures, since a life containing one magnificent thing and nothing else is thinner than it looks from inside.

Obsession has a physical cost

When something has your full attention you stop eating properly, stop sleeping and stop noticing, and this is not a metaphor. The intensity is genuinely expensive to run. Put external markers in place before you begin anything absorbing, since you will not notice the depletion from inside and nobody else can see it.

Work you can commit to completely

Half-hearted employment is corrosive for you in a way that it is not for other people; you cannot produce a moderate effort. Either the work engages you fully or it slowly poisons everything else. Choose accordingly, even at a cost in security, since the option of doing a job adequately is not available to you.

The parent nobody would cross

Your children grow up knowing that somebody would go to any length for them, which is a foundation most people never get. The other side is that your fierceness is visible and can be frightening when it is not aimed at them. Say what it is for out loud, since a child watching that intensity needs to know it is protection.
