Partnership is an institution, and you mean it literally
Put a Capricorn Venus in the house of Partnership and what you want from a relationship is a structure that will hold. Not an arrangement to be reviewed, not something that lasts while it is enjoyable, but an actual commitment with obligations attached in both directions.
That is a serious offer and it makes you slow. You will not enter something you intend to keep without having assessed it properly, and the people who wanted a quicker answer have generally moved on before you finished considering.
Drawn to somebody with their own standing
What attracts you is a person who has built something: a career, a reputation, a life that would exist perfectly well without you. Dependence is unattractive here, however affectionate. Say so early, since the quality you are looking for is easy to mistake for coldness about the ordinary business of needing each other.
Attracted across a difference in stage
A common pattern here is a partner at a noticeably different point in life, in either direction, and the difference is part of what makes it work rather than an obstacle to it. Nothing about that requires explaining to anybody. Do talk about the practical asymmetries directly, since the ones that go unaddressed become the substance of every later argument.
Loyalty that outlasts the reason
Having committed, you stay, through periods that would have ended it for somebody with a lighter view of obligation. That constancy is genuine and it is not automatically a virtue. Ask once a year whether you would choose this again today, since duty is entirely capable of maintaining a structure that stopped being a relationship some time ago.
Affection expressed as obligation met
Your version of romance is doing what you said you would, for years, without needing to be asked. Partners raised on demonstration can live inside forty years of that and still describe you as undemonstrative. Add something with no obligation attached occasionally, since the unearned gesture is the one thing your repertoire does not contain.
Say what you feel, not what you will do
Asked how you feel, you tend to answer with a commitment: what you intend to do, what you have arranged, how long you plan to be there. Those are answers to a different question. Say the feeling itself once, without any accompanying undertaking, since it is the version your partner has been waiting some years for.
You are formal with people you love
A certain reserve persists even with those closest to you, and it reads as distance rather than as respect. It is a habit you can adjust in specific ways: use the affectionate word, make the unnecessary call. Start with one relationship, since the whole manner will not change at once and the first one demonstrates that nothing terrible follows.
You want an employer you can respect
Where you can admire the organisation you work for you will give it decades; where you cannot, the competence continues and something in you quietly withdraws. That distinction affects your output more than the salary does. Assess the institution as carefully as the role, since you have never once been able to fake commitment to something you privately think badly of.
Shared finances put on a formal footing
You want joint money arranged properly: the agreement written, the contributions defined, everybody clear about what happens under various circumstances. That is prudent and it can read as unromantic at exactly the wrong moment. Say what the paperwork is protecting, since to you it is an expression of seriousness rather than of doubt.
Being wanted, not merely relied upon
You are extremely good at being necessary and much less practised at being simply enjoyed, and the difference has shaped every close relationship you have had. Ask somebody what they like about you that has nothing to do with what you provide. The answer usually arrives immediately, and you will almost certainly not have heard it before.
