The brief is: see them accurately, then help
If this had a brief it would read: observe the other person more precisely than anybody has before, and then attempt to improve their situation. Both halves are meant kindly and only one of them is usually welcome.
The Virgo half belongs to a whole span of birth years and shows up as an instinct to correct what does not work; the seventh house is the personal half, decided by your birth hour, which is why it lands on the people closest to you rather than on your work or your possessions.
A partner is inside your field of attention constantly
Living alongside somebody means seeing everything: the habit, the inconsistency, the thing they said last year that does not match. You are not looking for faults and you find them anyway. That level of attention is uncomfortable to be under and it is also the reason you know them better than anybody else does.
Nothing goes unregistered, and that is a weight
The cost falls on both sides: they feel observed, and you carry a detailed and continuously updated account of somebody else's life. Neither of you asked for this arrangement. Choosing what you will simply not track is the only available relief, and it has to be a category rather than a resolution to notice less.
The adjustments are how the attachment shows
The corrections are how your attachment expresses itself, and every one of them arrives sounding like an assessment being handed down. Nobody hears the affection underneath, because there is no reason they would. Attaching the motive out loud — saying that you noticed it precisely because you were paying attention to them and to nobody else in the room — changes the entire reception, and it costs you one clause per correction.
A relationship where somebody is genuinely known
What builds here is unusual: a partnership in which the other person is seen accurately rather than idealised, and stays anyway. Most people never experience being known at that resolution. It is the real offer you make, and saying so directly is worth doing, because from the inside it has probably felt like a habit you should suppress.
You need somebody who says it rather than implies it
Hints do not reach you. A partner who signals displeasure by tone, or who expects you to infer what they want, will be waiting a long time and will conclude you do not care. You are not inattentive, you are literal. Asking for the plain version explicitly, at the start of a relationship rather than during an argument, is a reasonable request and it prevents most of what has gone wrong before.
Friends bring you their problems
People come to you when something needs sorting and less often for anything else, which is a compliment to your competence and a narrow basis for a friendship. You have partly trained them to do this. Asking a friend for help with something, rather than always supplying it, redistributes the relationship more effectively than any conversation about it.
The partner who makes the other one work
In professional pairings you are reliably the one who turns somebody else's idea into a functioning thing, and the credit tends to attach to the idea. That division is real and unequal. Agreeing the attribution at the outset, in writing, is easier than raising it afterwards and prevents the resentment that otherwise arrives around year three.
Two families, and you can see both sets of faults
You have an unusually clear view of what is wrong in your partner's family and in your own, and you have mostly kept it to yourself, which is wise and quietly wearing. Saying it once about your own family is fine; saying it about theirs is almost never received as analysis. The workable rule is that you may name the pattern in your own household and only ever ask questions about theirs.
You monitor their health more closely than your own
You keep an accurate running account of how the person closest to you is doing — what they have eaten, how they slept, the thing they should have had looked at — while your own equivalent goes entirely untracked. The attention has a direction and it is not reciprocal. Handing somebody the job of asking you the same questions, explicitly and by request, is the only arrangement that has ever corrected this.
