You did not arrive at it by argument
You did not reason your way to what you believe and you cannot reason anybody else into it either. The certainty arrived first, complete and unannounced, and whatever justification you now offer for it was assembled some time afterwards to make it presentable.

So your convictions are real, load-bearing and impossible to demonstrate.
The certainty is worth trusting
Your unargued conclusions have a better record than your reasoned ones, which is uncomfortable to admit and consistently true. Where you have overridden a wordless certainty in favour of a defensible option, it has usually gone badly. Keeping a dated private note of these is worth doing, because after a few years the record itself becomes the argument.
An unprovable position is hard to live inside
Holding something you cannot justify leaves you without any defence when it is challenged and without any way to check whether you are simply wrong. Both problems are real. Finding one person who will take the unargued version seriously, and test it kindly, is the only correction available and it is worth the search.
Half the room is with you and half has gone
When you describe what you actually think, some listeners arrive at it immediately and completely, and the rest lose you at the second sentence. There is almost nobody in between, and it has nothing to do with how clever anybody is — it is whether they think in the same medium you do. Preparing one plainer version in advance, rather than improvising it under pressure in front of somebody sceptical, is what lets you reach the second group at all.
A faith with no institution attached
What builds here is unusual: something that functions as a faith — it orients you, it holds under pressure, it has survived things — with no doctrine, no membership and nobody to confirm it. That is genuinely rare and genuinely lonely. Putting it into words once, even badly, is what makes it something you can return to rather than something you have to keep regenerating.
The compass works and shows no reading
You know where you should be going and cannot say why, and every attempt to convert that into a plan somebody would approve of has dulled it. The knowing is the asset. Building a life that follows it, and accepting that you will never be able to justify the route to anybody, is the arrangement that fits what you actually have.
You see where the field is going
You can sense the direction of a discipline, a market or a conversation before there is any evidence, and you have watched several of those readings come true after you failed to act on them. The problem is never the perception. Acting on one early, in a small and survivable way, is the practice, and the smallness is what makes it possible.
You attract people looking for something
People in the middle of a crisis of belief find their way to you, because you take the question seriously without supplying an answer. It is a genuine service and it is unbounded. Being clear that you have no doctrine to offer, early in the conversation, protects both of you from an expectation that will eventually disappoint them.
You take on the outlook of whoever you love
In a close relationship you absorb the other person's way of seeing the world with remarkably little resistance: their politics, their reading, their idea of what matters. It happens without a decision and it has happened more than once. Keeping one line of enquiry that predates the relationship and belongs to nobody else is not disloyalty, it is the only way you come out the other side still holding anything of your own.
You absorb whatever framework you are near
Spending time inside somebody else's belief system — a workplace culture, a group, a partner's outlook — leaves you carrying assumptions that are not yours, and the effect is physical before it is intellectual: a dullness, a heaviness, a general loss of appetite for things. Periods alone are how it clears. Treating that as maintenance, scheduled rather than earned, is entirely rational here.
