People stop proposing alternatives, not because you rejected them but because the message left no visible opening. Add one sentence inviting the counter-argument, every time. The extra line costs seconds and it changes what comes back to you.

In your family you went first at everything: the argument opened, the rule tested, the way out located before anyone else thought to look for one. Ground was cleared for whoever came behind you, and the price was being cast as the difficult one for decades. Stop defending the old position at the next gathering and simply let it be dropped. An argument you decline to have shifts a family role faster than anything you could say.

Your thinking runs at a pace that does not slow down on request, which shows up as a jaw that stays tight and a head that starts drafting the moment it hits the pillow. Rest has never been something you were bad at; it is something you have never scheduled. Book one hour a week with no input and no output, and treat it as fixed.
