South Node in Aquarius in the 7th House (House of Partnership)

Aquarius says how South Node shows up; the 7th House says it happens in partnership, one-to-one bonds. Put the two together and you have the placement as it sits on a chart.

Call it the arrangement with reasonable terms

Your close relationships tend to have an implicit contract in them: mutual freedom, no unreasonable demands, both parties remaining themselves. Aquarius at the tail in the House of Partnership means that framework arrived early and has governed every bond you have formed since.

The name is useful because it explains what works and what does not. The terms are genuinely fair and unusually respectful of the other person. They also make certain things unaskable, including most of what people actually want from a partner.

What the framework protects

Nobody who has been with you has been diminished by it. You do not absorb people, restrict them or expect them to become smaller, and you take their individuality seriously in a way that is rarer than it should be. Several of your partners became more themselves during the relationship rather than less.

The groove is the reasonable distance

Under emotional pressure you move outward: to the principle, the fair view, what a sensible person would do here. It is usually correct and it removes you from the exchange at precisely the moment presence was what was required. The other person is left arguing with a well-constructed position rather than talking to anybody, which is a lonely thing to be doing in your own relationship.

They cannot tell whether they are needed

The independence is entirely real and it reads from outside as interchangeability. Partners conclude over time that you would be fine either way, and they are not wrong on the evidence available to them. What is missing is not the commitment but any visible sign of it — the statement, made out loud, that this specific person could not be swapped for a similar one.

Write down what would be lost

Leo stands across from it, in the room that holds only you, where the material is warm and unqualified. Leave a record: write, in specific terms, what you would lose if this particular relationship ended. Not the principle of it — the person. Then read it to them. The specificity is the whole exercise.

Fair, spacious, and hard to feel chosen by

You give a partner room, respect and an unusual absence of possessiveness, all of which is genuinely good for them and none of which reads to anybody as being wanted. What they need is one unreasonable, entirely particular statement of preference. Say why it is them rather than somebody else with all the same qualities. Specific beats fair every time in this particular room.

No claims in either direction

Your friendships run without expectations on either side, which is comfortable for everybody and means nobody has any actual claim on you. Nothing can be demanded, so nothing ever has to be defended or delivered. Say yes to one inconvenient request from a friend this month without weighing whether it is reasonable. Inconvenience accepted is what turns an acquaintance into somebody's person.

Independence bought at the cost of influence

You have arranged a working life with as little dependence in it as you could manage: your own remit, your own judgement, minimal need to negotiate with anybody. It has protected the quality of your thinking and kept you out of every position where influence actually accumulates. Take one role that requires you to persuade the same people repeatedly. Influence is a skill rather than a compromise.

Separate by default

In close relationships your money stays your own, framed as fairness and operating as distance: an account nobody else can reach is also a door nobody else can close. The framing is honest and the function is what it is. Merge one small real thing with actual stakes attached to it. Interdependence practised at low cost is what makes it survivable at high cost later.

Cordial, and never inside it

You get on perfectly well with your partner's family and have never quite joined it, keeping a courteous distance that everybody there notices and nobody has ever named out loud. It preserves your independence at a cost that only your partner actually pays. Attend one occasion you would ordinarily skip and stay until the end of it. Presence at the dull ones is the entire membership test.
