The job is a performance with an audience of one
What other people treat as simply the job, you treat as a performance, and the audience is mostly yourself. Saturn in Leo in the 6th house puts pride into the ordinary working day, where nobody is watching and the standard has to be self-imposed.
The 6th house is routine, service and the body; Leo wants what you do to be worthy of your name. So the unglamorous task gets done properly whether or not anybody checks, and a badly done piece of work stays with you for weeks in a way that other people find difficult to understand.
The weight is a standard nobody else is holding
You are working to a specification that exists only in your head, at a level the situation does not require, and the extra effort is neither noticed nor paid for. That is not obviously wrong — it is how craft happens — and it is worth being deliberate about. Choose where the standard applies rather than applying it everywhere by default.
It comes due when good work goes unremarked
The test is the stretch where you do something genuinely excellent and nobody says anything: no comment, no credit, the thing simply absorbed into the running of the place. It hurts more than it should and the hurt is information. Say what you did, once, plainly, to somebody who would want to know, since silence is not the same as indifference.
They call it perfectionism and mean it as a criticism
Colleagues describe your standard as fussiness, usually while relying on it. The word is inaccurate: perfectionism prevents finishing, and you finish. What you actually do is refuse to hand over something you would be embarrassed by. Say it in those terms rather than accepting the label, because the label invites people to ask you to care less.
Craft that is recognisable as yours
What this builds is a body of ordinary work with a signature on it: people can tell which pieces you did, in fields where that is not supposed to be possible. That is the reward for a standard nobody asked for. It also travels — the reputation arrives in rooms before you do, which is the one form of recognition you never had to request.
You would rather be tired than be covered for
Handing your work to a colleague for a day feels like an admission, so you go in when you should not and the recovery takes twice as long as it needed to. What is actually being protected is your standing rather than the schedule. Nobody in your workplace remembers who covered for whom last winter, and they all remember the person who came in and was useless.
The dignity is in doing it properly
Whatever the work is, your self-respect is attached to the quality of it rather than to its status, which has quietly protected you through years that looked unimpressive from outside. That is a genuinely sound foundation. It becomes a trap only where the work itself is not worth the standard, and that judgment is worth making explicitly every few years.
You want to be the one relied on, not the one liked
At work you would rather be indispensable than popular, and you have arranged things accordingly. It is effective and it means colleagues respect you at a slight distance. One deliberately unnecessary friendly act per week — nothing to do with any task — changes the temperature considerably without costing you any standing.
You are paid for the job and delivering something better
The gap between what you were contracted to do and what you actually produce is substantial and entirely unbilled. That is your choice and it should be a conscious one. Either price the higher standard as a distinct offering, or reduce it deliberately on the work where nobody values it, since donating it by default serves nobody.
The household runs to your specification
At home your standard applies too — how things are done, how they look, what is acceptable — and family members experience it as either high standards or constant correction depending on the day. Hand over one recurring domestic task completely, including the right to do it worse. That is the whole exercise and the difficulty of it will surprise you.
