The inner life needs a method
Anyone who knows you would say you are deep and hard to pin down. With the North Node in Virgo in the 12th house, the assignment lands inside the one arena that resists all structure: the inner life needs a method. You need one practice with actual steps, done at a fixed time.
The South Node sits in Pisces in the 6th house, so even your working days have run on drift. This is the crossed cut: bring method to the one place that seems least suited to it.
Give the practice a time and a sequence
Start with structure rather than depth: a fixed hour, a defined activity, a beginning and an end. Ten minutes of something specific beats an afternoon of intending to. Then keep a one-line record of whether you did it. The record is the mechanism; without it, this arena erases the evidence within a fortnight.
Somebody who keeps you to it
Interior work here dissolves without an external anchor: a teacher, a group, a standing appointment, anybody who notices whether you turned up. You have been doing this alone on the grounds that it is private. Privacy is not the problem; the absence of any structure around it is. Book the appointment rather than the intention.
Method does not flatten the mystery
The objection is that structure will kill whatever is subtle about the inner life. It does the opposite here: a practice with steps is what lets you visit reliably rather than occasionally. The mystery stays exactly as deep. What changes is that you can get there on a Tuesday when you do not feel like it.
Waiting until you are in the right state
The retreat is atmospheric conditions: you will do it when it feels right, when there is space, when the mood arrives. It never arrives on a schedule and so the practice happens six times a year. Do it in the wrong state once and note what happens. Usually the state improves during rather than before.
Rest works better when it is planned
Your recovery is opportunistic — you rest when you collapse, which means the body only stands down after it has already been overdrawn. Schedule it instead: a fixed unstructured hour, in the calendar, before the week fills. Planned rest costs a fraction of what recovery from exhaustion costs, and it is available now.
The unseen part needs an appointment
The long project here is an inner life that actually gets attended to rather than one that gets discussed. That requires the least mystical thing available: a repeating slot, defended. Put it in the diary for a year and let the practice be dull. Consistency is what turns an interest into an interior.
Say when you are unavailable
Your withdrawals are unannounced and unpredictable, which leaves the people around you guessing and slowly withdrawing themselves. Give the retreat a shape: say you are away until Thursday and then actually reappear on Thursday. Announced solitude protects both the solitude and the friendships around it, and the whole thing costs one message.
Ask for the quiet time explicitly
You take the solitude you need by drifting away, which reads to a partner as a problem with them. Ask for it in specific terms instead: two hours on Sunday morning, alone, nothing wrong. Naming the requirement removes the interpretation, and interpretations are where most of the damage in this arena comes from.
Write down what you know about them
Family history in your keeping is impressionistic and partly imagined, and the people who could correct it are not permanent. Write down the facts you have and then check them with somebody older while that is still possible. It is an unromantic afternoon and it converts something that was going to be lost into something that exists.
