Never once charged for the thing only you can do
From outside your finances look admirably unattached to ego. From inside, you have never once charged for the thing that only you can do. With the North Node in Leo in the 2nd house, worth is personal here. You need to price something on the basis that it is yours.
Value in this arena is not a market rate arrived at collectively. It is what you are willing to say your particular contribution is worth, out loud, to somebody who might disagree.
Naming your own value sounds like bragging
The internal objection is immediate: claiming that your version is worth more than the standard rate sounds like self-regard, and self-regard is the thing you have always avoided. Notice that you apply this rule only to yourself. Say the higher figure once and let the other person decide whether it is justified; that is their job, not yours.
Giving it away to keep things equal
The retreat is fairness: the discount offered before it was asked for, the work done unbilled because charging felt hierarchical, the rate set at whatever keeps everybody comfortable. It is generous and it is also a way of never being measured. Charge the full amount once and sit with the discomfort rather than resolving it.
Buy one thing purely because you love it
Start with taste rather than utility: an object chosen because it delights you and for no other reason, kept where you can see it. Then price one piece of work by what it is worth to the person receiving it rather than by the hours. Both exercises establish the same thing — that your preference is a legitimate basis for value.
Clients and buyers who want you specifically
There is a difference between people who need the service and people who want yours, and only the second kind pays properly. You have been recruiting the first kind by presenting yourself as interchangeable. Describe what is distinctive about your version in one sentence and use it. The audience changes within a few months.
What you are worth is not a group decision
You have taken your sense of value from consensus — the going rate, what people like you get, what seems reasonable to everybody. Consensus is a poor instrument for anything distinctive. Decide once, alone, what your work and your time are worth, write it down, and stop taking submissions on the question.
Sell the version only you make
Your professional pricing assumes the buyer could get the same thing elsewhere, and for the distinctive part of your work that is simply not true. Identify the piece that would be different if somebody else did it, and price that piece separately. Interchangeable work is priced by the market; the other kind is priced by you.
Generosity has a running cost
Undercharging and over-giving here produce a specific fatigue: work volume that has to stay high because each unit pays too little, and a body that never gets a slack week. The remedy is arithmetic rather than discipline. Raise one rate and reduce the volume by the same proportion. Your schedule loosens immediately and the total holds.
Money is where the family taught you modesty
Somewhere you learned that wanting more, charging more, or having visibly nice things was not what people like you do. That rule came from a household and it is still running your pricing. Name it once, out loud, and decide deliberately whether you still agree with it. Inherited modesty about money is expensive to keep unexamined.
Own something you would be seen with
Your possessions are deliberately unremarkable, chosen so that nobody could accuse you of showing off. Buy one thing that says something about you and use it in company. The reaction you are braced for does not come; what comes instead is people finding out what you like, which is a form of being known.
