By the second date there is already a picture of the two of you
By the time you have spent two evenings with somebody, an image exists: how you would be together, what other people would see, the shape of the pairing. Neptune in Libra in the 5th house builds that picture automatically, and from then on you are partly in a relationship with it.
Take the longing for a perfect arrangement between people as the background tone of a birth era. The 5th house is the local reading, and local readings differ — yours lands in romance and creation, so the arrangement you keep imagining is a couple rather than a society.
Do you like them, or do you like the shape of it?
The two are hard to separate while it is happening, because the picture is genuinely pleasing and so is the person. The distinguishing question is unromantic: would you want to spend a wet Sunday with them where nobody sees you and nothing is charming? Where the answer is uncertain, what you were enjoying was the composition.
Being adored accepted in place of loving somebody
You are good at being wanted and it is a reliable, pleasant position, and it can occupy an entire relationship without you ever having to risk wanting somebody first. The imbalance is comfortable and slowly hollow. Say what you want, unprompted, before they ask. Going first is the specific move you have arranged your romantic life to avoid.
The effort that goes into how it looks
A surprising share of your energy in romance goes on presentation: how the evening is set up, how the two of you appear, whether the atmosphere is right. It is real generosity and it is also a lot of work aimed at an audience that may consist of nobody. Do one thoroughly unaesthetic thing together. Whatever is left when the composition is removed is the actual relationship.
Choose somebody on unglamorous grounds, once
Pick one thing to prioritise that would not photograph well: kindness under pressure, how they treat somebody with nothing to offer, whether they are dull in a way you find restful. Make it the deciding factor for one relationship. It will feel like settling and it usually turns out to be the first time you chose on the basis of the person.
In love with the pairing more than with the person
What captivates you is often the relationship as an object — its symmetry, how it feels from outside, the story of the two of you. The actual person can go under-examined for a surprisingly long time inside a good-looking arrangement. Ask what they are like when nothing is being observed. Your instinct for beauty is real; it just needs the second question attached.
You make better things with somebody else in the room
Left entirely alone, your creative judgement loses its bearings; put one other person into the process and it comes into focus immediately. That is not a want of independence, it is how your discernment operates — it needs something to be in relation to. Build collaboration into the method deliberately, rather than treating solitary practice as the proper way and your own version as a compromise.
You are the one who makes a group look like a group
You arrange the gathering, balance who sits where, notice when somebody is stranded, and the evening works because of it. It is unpaid social architecture and nobody names it. Occasionally arrive with no responsibility for the shape of the occasion and let it be uneven. The evening will be worse and you will be present at it, which is the trade.
Undecided things wear you down more than hard ones
An unresolved choice — about a relationship, a piece of work, anything with two defensible sides — costs you physically in a way that a difficult decided situation does not. Deciding badly is usually cheaper than staying undecided well. Set a date on any choice that has been open for more than a month and take whichever option is in front of you on the day.
With children, you notice who is being left out
You register the child at the edge of a group, the one whose turn was skipped, the unfairness nobody else clocked, and stepping in matters more than you know. The thing to watch is smoothing over conflicts children could have worked out themselves. Let some of them be uneven. Learning to be in an unfair situation is part of what they are doing.
