Most people adopt a belief, you audit one
A Virgo Moon in the 9th house cannot take a large claim on faith. What settles you is having examined the reasoning, found where it holds and where it does not, and arrived at something you could defend in detail rather than something you merely feel.
That produces an unusually honest outlook and a certain difficulty. Grand systems of meaning rarely survive your scrutiny intact, which leaves you well informed, sceptical, and occasionally without anything to stand on.
You prepare properly for anywhere unfamiliar
The research is done, the documents are in order, the practicalities are handled before departure, and travelling with you is measurably easier than travelling alone. It is genuine competence and it can consume the trip. Leave one day entirely unplanned, since the unresearched part is where the actual experience tends to occur.
You spot what the big idea is missing
Given a sweeping theory or a confident plan, you find the specific place where it fails to account for reality, usually within minutes and usually correctly. That is a valuable service in any room full of enthusiasm. Offer it as a question rather than as a demolition, since the delivery determines whether it is used or resented. Where the room is committed to the plan, note the flaw in writing and raise it once, so that the record shows it was said.
The scrutiny leaves nothing to hold
Every framework you examine turns out to have a flaw, so nothing is ever quite adopted, and you can spend years with no working philosophy while being better read than anybody around you. Notice that a partial framework used carefully is more useful than none. Provisional adoption is allowed and you have never tried it.
Live inside one idea before deciding about it
Choose something you find plausible but unproven and act as though it were true for six months, without auditing it in the meantime. What that produces is a kind of evidence your usual method cannot reach, since some things only reveal their soundness to somebody who has already committed to them. Set the end date at the start, so that the experiment has a stopping point and the auditing has something to look forward to.
An outlook built out of what survived checking
What you actually hold to be true is small, hard-won and reliable, assembled from claims that withstood your examination rather than from anything adopted wholesale. That is a considerable achievement and it looks like scepticism from outside. Write the surviving list down, since it is shorter than you fear and sturdier than you think.
The expert who gets the detail right
Research, editing, specialist teaching, standards work, anything requiring somebody to know a field precisely rather than broadly: your value concentrates here. Choose depth over range deliberately. And say what you know plainly rather than hedging it, since your qualifications are stronger than your presentation of them. The trap is remaining a specialist adviser to somebody less careful, when the same knowledge would carry a role of your own.
A few people who talk about real things
You would rather have one substantial conversation than an evening of pleasant company, and your friendships tend to form around a shared subject: the course, the field, the mutual interest examined properly. That is durable. Make sure at least one of them is not about a subject, since a friendship needs somewhere unserious to go.
You questioned what everybody accepted
The household's beliefs did not survive your examination, and you probably said so, carefully and at an age when carefulness did not help. Some of that was courage. Consider that a few of those beliefs were doing practical work for the people holding them, which is a separate question from whether they were correct.
Careful about anything you cannot inspect
Distant investments, foreign arrangements and anything sold on a story make you uneasy, which has protected you reliably and occasionally kept you out of something sound. Your caution is well founded and the threshold is set high. Consider one carefully sized exception a year, chosen after your own research rather than after somebody else's pitch.
