Choose activities that make analysis impossible, which is why physical, absorbing, slightly frightening things do more for you than they should.
Do something that leaves no room to comment
Cold water, a steep hill, a loud room, an instrument played badly at volume: pick something that occupies you completely and takes the observation post offline. It is the one route into the kind of enjoyment you keep watching other people have. The subject matter matters less than the total occupation. You will know it worked because you cannot afterwards describe the middle of it, which almost never happens to you otherwise.

That is a durable way to build a social life. Keep joining things, since this is the mechanism that has always worked for you and it does not stop working.
The relative who takes a child's ideas seriously
You treat young people as thinkers, follow their strange questions, and do not require them to be conventional, which for some children is the most important thing any adult did. Keep that. Add the ordinary presence too, since being interesting is easier to supply than being reliably there on a dull Tuesday.
