Home is where you hold court
The 4th house is where your Leo Mercury spends its day, and it spends it being listened to. Your household organises itself around your voice: you narrate, you decide the mood, and the room takes its cue from how you came in.
It makes you a generous and vivid person to live with. It also means the people at home rarely get an equal share of the air, and few of them will ever mention that.
The house has to be somewhere you are proud of
Where you live is a statement rather than an address, and living somewhere you would not want anybody to see costs you more than the practical inconvenience suggests. That is worth knowing about yourself rather than arguing with. Spend on the room people actually sit in and let the rest be plain; the effect you want is achievable at a fraction of what you would otherwise commit.
You are the author of the family story
Your account of where you come from is well shaped, well told and slightly improved, and over the years it has become the official version — including for relatives who were there. That is a real gift to a family and it deserves one honesty check. Keep a plain private record alongside the told one, because the told one will keep improving whether or not you intend it to.
Being taken for granted at home stings
You put considerable warmth into your household and you need it noticed, which sounds like vanity and is closer to a genuine requirement. When appreciation stops arriving you go quiet, and nobody at home knows why. Say the sentence directly rather than waiting for it to be inferred. It is far less embarrassing than the alternative, which is a fortnight of unexplained coolness.
The inner voice speaks to an audience
Even alone, your thinking is addressed to somebody: the argument constructed for a listener, the account narrated to an imagined room. This is why solitary reflection is genuinely hard for you and why writing things down works so well. Give the interior audience a page. Once it has somewhere to perform, the private version of your thinking becomes accessible.
Your house is where things happen
You host, and you do it well: the gathering that people remember, the door that is genuinely open, the sense that arriving at yours improves an evening. It is real generosity and it can become an obligation you keep paying. Notice whether you are hosting because you want to or because it is now expected, and cancel one occasionally without a reason.
The one who was supposed to do well
In your household of origin there was an expectation attached to you specifically — of achievement, of visibility, of being the impressive one — and it was probably never stated. You have been answering it ever since, including in decisions that were otherwise inexplicable. Work out which of your ambitions are yours. Some will survive the question and some were a commission you never accepted.
You want to be adored where you live
What you need from domestic partnership is warmth expressed rather than assumed: the affection spoken at breakfast, the small praise, the sense of being someone's favourite person inside your own house. Competence and loyalty alone will not do it. State the requirement plainly. It is easy to meet and almost impossible to guess.
Building the household you did not have
A good deal of what you are constructing is a corrected version of an earlier home: warmer, more generous, better attended. That is worthy work and it carries one risk, which is running the new household as a performance of what the old one lacked. Ask occasionally whether the people in it want what is being provided, or whether the provision is addressed to somebody who is no longer in the room.
