Your convictions arrive fully formed
Mercury in Aries points its questions at the 9th house, so your views about how the world works assemble quickly and then get held. A subject is encountered, a position is taken within about an hour, and the position is defended with more heat than its age warrants.
Often you are right, because your instinct for the shape of a thing is genuinely good. What is missing is the interval between the impression and the conviction, and that interval is where all the errors would have been caught.
You learn a place by going there
Books about a country do very little for you and three days in it does everything. The same applies to any large subject: you understand it once you have been inside it, argued with somebody who lives there, or tried the thing yourself. Arrange your education that way deliberately rather than feeling guilty about the unread pile. Immersion is not a treat you take instead of studying; it is how you actually learn.
The argument about principle is the one you enjoy
Disagreements about facts bore you and disagreements about what matters are genuinely enlivening. You will take a position at full volume, push it hard, and be entirely cheerful about the whole exchange, which not everybody experiences the same way. Say what game you are playing before you start. Announced as an argument for pleasure, it is a pleasure; unannounced, it is a fight.
You act on the belief immediately
A new conviction does not sit in your head as an opinion, it becomes a plan: the move, the change of direction, the thing you stop doing on principle. That decisiveness is why your life has actually changed shape more than once. Give the big ones a fortnight between the conviction and the action. The belief will survive the wait and some of the plans will not.
Certainty needs an occasional audit
Because your positions form quickly and are held firmly, some of what you believe was decided at speed in circumstances you can no longer remember. It is worth pulling one out annually and putting it under proper examination: read the best case against it and argue that side honestly. What survives becomes conviction and what falls was only ever a first impression that nobody challenged.
You need something worth going after
A life with no larger objective in it flattens you faster than any hardship does, because the engine here runs on direction rather than on comfort. Name the thing you are actually aiming at, out loud, once a year. It is allowed to change annually. What is not survivable for you is having no answer at all, and that is the state you drift into rather than choose.
Sell the direction, first and fast
Where you are worth most is at the front of something new: the argument for a change of course, the case made before anybody else was ready to make it, the willingness to be publicly wrong. Aim at roles that reward that rather than ones that punish it. And build a record of your early calls, because being right first is only an asset if it is documented.
You recruit people to the thing
When something convinces you, your first move is to bring somebody with you: the friend enlisted, the group persuaded, the sceptic argued round over the course of one evening. It is why your enthusiasms are never solitary and why your circle keeps acquiring people from whatever you were last certain about. Check that they actually wanted to come. A recruitment that worked because you were persuasive rather than because they were interested ends awkwardly for both of you.
The shared conviction is the attraction
What draws you is discovering that somebody cares about the same thing at the same intensity: the cause, the field, the argument you were each already having on your own. Compatibility of temperament comes a long way behind that. State it plainly on meeting somebody, because otherwise you will spend a year measuring them against a criterion you have never described and they have no way of guessing.
