You think best against somebody
An Aries Mercury filed under the 7th house means your reasoning fires properly only when there is another head opposite. Alone you circle; with somebody pushing back the argument assembles at speed and comes out better than either of you brought in.
That makes disagreement a form of intimacy for you rather than a breakdown of it. The people who understand this become permanent; the people who do not experience your best thinking as an attack.
Negotiation is where you are most yourself
Across a table from somebody with opposing interests, you are quick, direct and entirely comfortable, which is a rare combination. You name a number, tolerate the silence, and are genuinely prepared to walk. Put yourself in situations that use it — deals, disputes, anything adversarial — because it is the single most marketable thing about how your mind works and it is wasted on consensus.
The closest person gets the unfiltered version
Whoever is nearest receives your reactions with no delay and no editing, on the theory that they can take it and that the alternative is dishonesty. Mostly that is a gift. Occasionally it means a partner is absorbing a reaction that belonged to a whole day. Say which it is at the time — this is about the day, not about you — because they cannot tell from the outside.
You need somebody who does not fold
A partner who concedes to keep the peace is disastrous here: you push, they yield, and you lose respect for a person who was only being kind. What you actually want is opposition you cannot easily beat. Say that explicitly, because it sounds like a strange requirement and it is the central one. Somebody who argues back is not being difficult; they are meeting the specification.
It is over the moment it is over
You discharge a disagreement completely and expect the other person to have done the same, so you are cheerful ten minutes later while they are still recovering. That gap causes more damage than the original argument did. Check rather than assume — one question about whether they are actually finished — because your recovery time is not evidence about theirs.
Conflict is how you stay in contact
In a settled relationship you keep testing the edges, not because anything is wrong but because friction is how you register that somebody is present. A partner who reads every disagreement as a crisis will be exhausted within a year. Name the pattern early and agree a signal for it, so that a heated exchange about the dishwasher is not filed by either of you as evidence about the relationship.
One good sparring partner beats a circle
Your friendships work one at a time and they run on honesty rather than on warmth: the person who will tell you plainly, argue properly and never manage you. Groups dilute all of that. Invest in the individual relationships rather than trying to sustain a wide circle, because the wide version costs you effort and returns very little that you value.
You are worth more with a partner than alone
Working entirely solo removes the thing that makes you sharp, and working in a large team buries it. The arrangement that suits you is two: a co-founder, a counterpart, one person whose judgement you respect and can argue with daily. Structure your working life around finding that person rather than around the role, because with the right counterpart almost any role works.
Winning it is not the same as settling it
You are good enough at argument to prevail in exchanges you should have lost, and the practice available here is noticing when that has happened. A won point with an unconvinced person opposite has resolved nothing and cost you something. Ask yourself afterwards whether they actually changed their mind. If not, the conversation is still open regardless of how it appeared to end.
