You are met at conversational speed
Two things reach a room at once: your speed and your words. Mars in Gemini in the 1st house makes verbal quickness the first thing anybody registers about you, so people form a view of your intelligence before they have any information about your character.
The sign supplies force that moves through language and the house makes that the front of the building. So the reflex to answer, question, joke or reframe is not a habit you picked up, it is the mechanism itself, and rooms sort themselves into people who enjoy it and people who feel outpaced by it.
The body cannot be persuaded to settle
Hands moving, leg going, attention on three things, standing up mid-sentence because a thought needed the room. Sitting through anything long costs you real effort that nobody watching would credit. Give the restlessness a legitimate job rather than fighting it: take notes by hand, walk while you think, take the call standing. The energy is not the problem, the chair is.
Wit that got there before your judgement
The line arrives fully formed and you have said it. It is usually funny, occasionally accurate in a way that costs somebody something, and completely irretrievable. The people it lands on remember it long after you have forgotten the room. Your fix is not fewer jokes; it is a half-second target check. Aim at the situation and everything works. Aim at the person and it will still be being quoted next year.
Several people, all of them genuinely you
You are a different register with colleagues, with old friends, with strangers on a train, and none of the versions is a performance. Some people find that unsettling and describe it as inconsistency. It is closer to fluency. The one cost worth managing is that nobody has met the whole of it, so pick one or two people and let them see the versions they were not assigned.
Curiosity as a first impression
You open by asking rather than by telling, which disarms almost everybody and gathers information at a rate other people find slightly alarming. It is your best social instrument and it doubles as cover: asking questions means never being the one answering them. Notice when it is doing the second job, and offer something about yourself unprompted instead.
The nervous system takes the overflow
What you do not spend physically collects in the wiring rather than the muscles: the hour lost to scrolling, the jaw at traffic lights, sleep that will not start because the day is still being narrated. Long sessions bore you into quitting. What holds is short, varied, frequent movement with something to think about, taken several times a day rather than once.
You are the reason the evening happened
Introductions get made, silences get filled, the group acquires its pace from you within about ten minutes of your arrival. It is a genuine service and it means you talk more than anyone and are asked about less. Try being the second person to speak once an evening. What comes back is a different quality of information entirely.
Interest shows up as attention, not declaration
You court by noticing: the question nobody else asked, the thing they mentioned once and you brought up a fortnight later, the conversation that ran until three. It is more flattering than any statement and it is also entirely deniable. At some point say the plain sentence, because the person on the receiving end has no way of distinguishing your interest from your ordinary curiosity.
Finishing one thing has more to teach you than starting six
Beginnings cost you nothing, which is exactly why they cannot teach you much. Everything that has changed you was on the far side of a stretch where the novelty had gone and you continued anyway. Pick one thing a year and take it past that point deliberately. Not as discipline for its own sake, but because the part you keep skipping is where the actual material is.
The one who explains everybody to everybody
You translate between relatives who cannot hear each other directly, and the family runs measurably better for it. It is unpaid diplomatic work and it puts you permanently in the middle of things you had no stake in. Step out of one of them this year. Let two people have their own conversation badly, and find out that the family survives it.
