People cannot work out what the arrangement is
People know you are with somebody and find the shape of it hard to describe. Mars in Aquarius in the 7th house puts your independence into one-to-one bonds, so your relationships are negotiated rather than inherited and rarely resemble what anybody was expecting.
The sign is why the template gets rejected and the house is why it applies to the closest bond you have. That produces genuinely equal partnerships and one recurring difficulty, since a relationship without a standard form has to be explicitly agreed and nobody supplies the wording.
Equality as a precondition rather than an aspiration
Any hint that one of you is in charge, or is expected to defer, ends your interest quickly and permanently. That is not pride, it is the actual requirement. State it at the start, because a great deal of what people assume about how couples work is exactly what you will not accept.
Arguments conducted as position papers
In conflict you become principled, articulate and slightly abstract, arguing the general case while your partner is dealing with a specific hurt. You will win and it will settle nothing. Address the particular incident and the feeling attached to it, and save the general principle for a moment when nobody is upset.
Space written into the design
You need genuinely unaccompanied time and a partner who does not read it as a message, and if that is not agreed in advance it becomes a recurring crisis instead of an arrangement. Specify it: how much, how often, what does not require explaining. Designed early it is a feature; extracted later it is a wound.
The friendship underneath the relationship
What lasts for you is a partner who is genuinely a friend: somebody you would choose to talk to regardless. Romantic intensity without that will not hold your interest through a difficult year. Check for the friendship early, because it is the load-bearing element and it is easy to overlook while other things are happening.
Withdrawal is not an argument, but it reads as one
When something is wrong your instinct is to go cool and reasonable rather than to escalate, and from the other side that is far more alarming than a raised voice. Nothing has been said, so nothing can be answered. Say the ordinary unprincipled sentence about being upset, at the time, and let it be as inelegant as it comes out.
Two people who both need to be uncontrolled
You work well with somebody as long as neither of you is managing the other, which rules out most conventional business structures and suits genuine partnerships of equals. Set the decision rules in advance and in writing, especially who resolves a deadlock. The absence of a hierarchy is the point and it is also what makes a stuck decision permanent.
Two households with different rules
Your partner's family and your own operate on assumptions that do not match, and you have quietly been translating between them for years without either side knowing that anything is being managed. It is real work and it is invisible in both directions. Let one difference stand unmediated this year and see whether either family notices, since your intervention may be preserving a problem nobody actually has.
Learning to be affected by somebody
Your independence is real and it can function as a way of never quite being changed by another person, which is the specific thing a close relationship is for. Let one decision be genuinely shaped by somebody else this year, in a way you would not have chosen alone, and notice how strongly the instinct to retrieve it arrives.
Split it in a way neither of you inherited
The standard arrangements for shared money will not suit you and you are entirely capable of designing something better. Do it explicitly, in one sitting, with the proportions and the exceptions written down. The custom version works and it only works while both people can describe it, so put it somewhere you can both find.
